We've always loved travelling and exploring new places and just after the pandemic we began taking short trips in the UK, looking for unusual or quirky accommodation. We stayed in a church, a tree-house, shepherds hut, a shipping container and even a boat moored in central London and we really enjoyed the freedom to take short trips and see new places.
But as our Labrador, Dozer entered his senior years we wanted to ensure we could all take trips together in a way that was reliably comfortable and familiar for him, that's when we considered buying a caravan. Having a home from home on wheels really appealed to us but it wasn't totally untested, we'd owned a motorhome for about 10 years previously. So we were used to touring around staying on sites and all of the little things you learn while doing so. But a caravan was definitely new to us.
Since buying our first caravan in 2022 we feel we've really made the most of the lifestyle. We've taken lots of trips, ranging from short local weekends to a couple of weeks further away. For us, the true measure of success is how easy it's been to get away lots with Dozer and if he's enjoyed it. Well, we're delighted to report that he loves it! He very quickly settled into a routine, found the seat that he loves to sleep on and is generally very comfortable being in the caravan. When the weather permits, he also loves to lie down outside and people watch! One of the things he loves the most is that neither of us can be far away in such a small space, he does love to know where we are all the time!
So now, when asked why we caravan, the answer is easy... to spend time with our boy Dozer while enjoying the wonderful country we call home. We've had some fantastic adventures and stayed at some awesome sites, all of which we've captured in our videos, so if you're interested in following our journey, head over to the video section of our website or follow the link to our YouTube channel
